What Are Some of the Current Challenges and Obstacles to be Overcome?
There will always be current challenges and perceived obstacles impacting upon our distance education deliveries. What challenges and obstacles are you aiming to overcome in order to encourage a better online learning experience for our students?
How Can We Best Challenge the "Innovation Tension?"
A tension exists when we are prompted to be innovative educators and asked to make use of emerging technologies which later get deemed dangerous or too risky and are consequently blocked from our usage. Yet there is an understandable need to ensure "safe" learning environments for our students. How can we best challenge this tension?
Are the Key Truisms of Distance Education Still Valid?
At one time the key guiding truisms of distance education were accessibility, mitigating distance and promoting equitable educational opportunities. Today there are demanding business models in place causing administrators to consider the return on investment. Are these truisms still valid in a new distance education playing field?
Online Video - is it the next BIG power application?
Terry Anderson (2008) among others, have asked this question in relation to distance education. What do you think? Are you finding a use for online video in your deliveries?
Do Today's Technologies Really Deliver?
There is a dazzling array of technology and software options (see go2web20.net) available to us ... do they deliver? Is distance education seeing tangible benefits?
Podcasts from AADES 2008
We asked conference participants a number of questions to harness some of the collective ideas present here at the AADES 2008 Leadership conference.
Here's what people had to say ...
- What session have you just attended and what are your thoughts on it?
- Where are you from and what stories can you tell us about innovation in your schools?
- What are the key skills students need to be successful as distance students?
- What are the skill areas you think are needed to be a good distance educator?
- Have you discovered anything here that you might be able to apply back home?
